PROSSER SCOTTISH FEST
JUNE 2011

We started the day with true Scottish weather (rain) on Saturday, June 18th, in Prosser, WA, but then the sun came out in the afternoon. There was a nice turnout of about 1,500 people that had the opportunity to visit the clan tents (Buchanan, Donald, Campbell, Gunn, MacInnes, MacKay, Turnbull and of course Gregors).

Clan Gregor tent was manned by Clarke and Barbara. Bill and Cheryl also attended to support the clan.

There was good entertainment, athletics, dancers including one lass in a MacGregor (green) kilt.

and of course the games would not be complete without the famous anvil launch.

Bill and Clarke represented the Gregors in the parade

and our good friend Chuck Cook was Chieftain of the game (he has attended 11 Prosser Scottish games). Chuck represented the National Tartan Day Society of Washington.

There were two pipe bands - Desert Thistle Pipe Band and the Shadle Park High School Pipe Band from Spokane, WA, which entertained us all throughout the day.

There were Highland Cattle (The Hairy Coos), Dogs of the British Isles, Firefighter's Challenge and a new event - Bonny Knees Contest. The Chieftain participated in this event (you will have to ask him about this). We had several people stop by the tent to ask questions and acquire information about Scottish history.
